About us

A caring community, more than a physical place

Lumenia was founded by people with more than 30 years of experience in addiction recovery, their families and physicians. We know what it’s like to feel alone, hopeless and unsure of what to do, because we’ve been there.

Our mission

To walk alongside people and families living with the disease of addiction and codependency as they regain their health and the hope to live with dignity, bringing together science and the experience of those of us who have already walked the path of recovery.

Our vision

To be Mexico’s leading organization and community for the prevention, treatment and recovery of addiction and codependency, where no person or family has to walk the path alone.

Our story

Where Lumenia comes from and why we do this

Our story was born from recovery, not from tragedy.

30+years of experience in recovery

Lumenia was founded by people with more than 30 years of experience in addiction recovery, together with their family members, some of whom are health professionals. We have lived recovery firsthand, and we want to give back to the community what we were given.

That’s why we understand what you and your family are going through: the loneliness, the hopelessness and the anguish of not knowing what to do. We know that addiction, like codependency, is a disease, not an attitude problem or a lack of willpower.

We do this to give you back the hope you feel you’ve lost, so you know you are not alone and that you can count on us to walk with you every step of the way.

And we do it all with

Our philosophy and identity

With work, community, faith and light, we find the way

Why is our symbol a lighthouse?

Even in the middle of the darkness, when we hit rock bottom, feel alone and believe there’s no way out, the lighthouse reminds us that we are not alone. We have a Higher Power greater than ourselves and a compassionate, caring community that helps us navigate the open sea. There will be rough waves and headwinds, but we keep sailing, because we know that with work, community, faith and light, we will always find our way back home.

Our multidisciplinary team

Health professionals, including physicians, specialized psychotherapists and addiction counselors, who understand addiction through both science and experience. We walk with you without judgment and with deep empathy.

Our motto

Merecer vivir (Deserving to live)

Life is a gift we receive without asking for it, but we do choose what to do with it. Existing is letting the days go by; living is filling them with purpose. For a long time, many of us were only surviving: getting through the day, trapped in fear, guilt and the need to make it to tomorrow.

Living is something else. It’s waking up with clarity, rebuilding our relationships, feeling at peace and finding meaning in things again. Our dignity isn’t lost when we fall: it is honored and rebuilt through daily work on ourselves, a choice we renew every morning, one day at a time.

Our mantra

“Just for today, I work on myself, and I deserve to live, not just survive.”
